Hi Folks,

I heard this one recently but it’s been around a while.   A couple was visiting the Holy Land and while they were there the wife passed away.  What to do?  He was counseled to either have her body shipped home at the tune of $5000 or have her cremated there in Jerusalem for only $100.  He thought about it and then said: “I think I will have her shipped home.  The person counseling him was surprised and asked why he would be willing to spend $5000 instead of the cremation for $100.  The man responded: “I heard that many years ago someone died here and was buried and then rose from the dead.  I can’t take that chance!”

Seriously, as we prepare for the celebration of the Resurrection of the Lord, it is important that we prepare ourselves in the best way possible.  This season of Lent is all about reconciliation.  On March 18 at 7:00 pm we will have several priests here as part of the bilingual Reconciliation Service.  Mark your calendars.

On Palm Sunday, March 28th at 4:00 pm we will experience a Seder Meal with Rabbi Schneider.  Please come and bring pot luck for sharing after the ritual meal.  All are welcome.

It’s time again for the Bishop’s Appeal.  TONY CADIENTE has volunteered to launch this year’s drive in the middle of the month.  This year the Holy Eucharist portion of the proceeds will go towards the renovation of the kitchen.  We are depending on your usual generosity to meet the costs of the renovation.

Unfortunately, for the last three or four weeks, the youth group numbers have dropped down to 2 or 3 people.  If the numbers do not increase soon we will be forced to discontinue this program.

Finally, I want to mention the MEXICAN FIESTA which will take place on SUNDAY, MAY 2.    The MARQUEZ FAMILY as well as the GUADALUPANA group and JOE SVANCARA are graciously chairing the event.  Again, mark your calendars for good food, Mariachi and lots of fun.

Fr. Joe
