Pastoral Council Meeting Minutes

February 20, 2008

 

Members present : Andy Anderson , Bob Erbe, Ali Dwyer, Pat Golditch, Tom House, Vince Hurley, Margaret Kristich, Fr. Paul Murphy, Paul Vitali, Tim Walsh and Christopher Wemp

Vince Hurley called the meeting to order at 7:40 pm.

The minutes of the previous meeting were approved as written.

 

Faith Formation : Susan Mahan

Susan has attended several retreats, workshops and training sessions. The information she has gathered has been very helpful in planning programs here at Holy Eucharist.

•  Religious Education is going well with 36 children enrolled.

Parent-student retreats are being held for 1 st Reconciliation and 1 st Eucharist.

•  The Junior High Youth Group has 15 kids registered.

It was suggested that we provide funding for games and equipment for this program.

•  Adult Education:

Bible Study was very successful and will continue in April with Acts of the Apostles.

Susan would like to integrate intergenerational programs here at Holy Eucharist.

•  Retreats:

49 adults are participating in the Lenten Faith Sharing Groups.

•  RCIA

There are 6 catechumens, who will be baptized and/or confirmed at the Easter Vigil.

Vic and Gloria Suarez evaluate the people who ask to become Catholic and place them in the

correct program.

•  Baptism of Infants:

Susan is putting together a “Welcome Wagon” packet to present to parents and she is

planning home visits after the baptisms.

•  Adult Confirmation:

Susan will offer classes once or possibly twice a year.

Listening Sessions:

The first session is Monday, February 25 at 6:00 pm at Resurrection Church in Aptos.

Fr. Paul has asked representatives from the Councils to attend.

B.A.M.A.

We now have $2,860 donated by 11 families.

Events:

•  Shamrock Shindig- Sunday, March 9

187 tickets have been sold. Musicians and dancers are practicing.

•  Parish BBQ will be Sunday, June 22

 

 

 

 

 

Parish Needs List:

•  Bell Tower

Neil Gertner is to contact Peter Truman with the final cost.

•  Roof Repair

The price of steel has gone up since we received the estimate for the church roof.

We will also get and estimate for replacing the hood in the kitchen.

Paul Vitali is planning to replace the screws on the classroom roof and add foam to prevent further damage.

•  AOB

•  Ali is working on the brochure describing the icons in the church.

•  Girl Scout Sunday is March 9.

•  Brian Oliva-Hagerty is continuing the maintenance of his landscaping project.

•  St Francis C. C. C. High School is recruiting students since enrollment is down by 25%.

Enrollment in the 7 th & 8 th Grade classes in the feeder schools is also down.

Principal, Keith Matthews will speak at each of the masses on the weekend of April 19 & 20.
