Fr. Joe Grimaldi –
- Fr. Joe explained to Matt that as representative of the youth in our parish, he will need to be assertive and make known the views of the youth he represents.
- Everything went well at the first Spanish Mass. Ommar Solis played the guitar and sang. Fredy Calavario gave the homily. The seminarians will continue to help with the Mass. Fredy, however will be assigned to Holy Cross in the future. Fr. Joe has two deacons in mind to also help with the Mass. We will possibly have Children’s Liturgy at the Spanish Mass.
- Richard Dwyer asked Fr. Joe if ticket prices for the Shamrock Shindig should be lowered. It was decided that the price is reasonable and the Shindig is always sold out so the price will remain the same.
- The Facilities Committee will meet tomorrow. One member of the committee will also be on the Pastoral Council. The goal of the Committee will be to update the Master Plan, make recommendations for the maintenance of the facility and research the possibility of installing a columbarium on the property. A columbarium will provide stability for the parish, a place for prayer and meditation and can bring money into the parish.
Spaghetti Dinner and 5 year plan-
- The plan will be reviewed at a later meeting
- There was discussion about a date for the next dinner.
- Most items on the plan are on-going or completed.
- Plan will be put on the agenda next month.
B.A.M.A.
- The Diocesan commitment for 2009 for our Parish is $15, 300.00. A decision needs to be made on our Parish goal.
- The BAMA Launch weekend is February 21 & 22. Don Lipoma will coordinate the appeal.
- A letter of appeal will be sent to all registered families
- Fr. Joe suggested that liturgical items are needed: Stations of the Cross, a Crucifix, minister’s robes, votive candle stand. He mentioned that the Dias family has donated a statue of Our Lady of Grace as well as two matching pedestals made by Jim Dias. The dedication will be February 21 at the 5:00 pm Mass
- Tim Walsh suggested that platforms be a part of the BAMA appeal.
- Vince Hurley suggested possibly recarpeting the platforms.
- The kitchen also needs to be updated as well as installing a new fire suppression system.
Parish Council –
- The Retreat Day is scheduled for Saturday, February 28 at Villa Maria del Mar. The Council will look at the constitution and bylaws and reflect on the mission statement. Pat will send an email to get the RSVPs.
- Vince Hurley reported on the Nominations Committee. There are 12 adult and 1 youth member on the Council. The question was asked if we want to rethink the number of members since we now have a facilities committee. Ali Dwyer and Vince Hurley are the members who have reached the 6 year term limit. 6 people are elected and they should have overlapping terms.
By the next meeting the election procedures will be finalized. Nominations will be in May with elections in June and the newly elected will attend their first meeting in September.
Events-
- Casino Night: The committee is asking for Basket donations to be used for a separate drawing at the event. The Council decided to donate a basket with a tool theme. Pat will send an email and all members will “reply to all” as to what they are donating so there won’t be duplicates. Drop off your tools at the office and Matt Catalano volunteered to put it all together.
- Shamrock Shindig- Sunday, March 8
- Ice Cream Social- Sunday, April 26 Amanda Meyers will chair this event.
- Dinner Dance-Friday, May 8
- Parish BBQ-Sunday, June 14
