Faith Formation

Baptism Preparation – Help prepare parents and godparents who wish to have their children baptized. Contact: Pat Thwing, pthwing@yahoo.com, 684-0698, or parish office 722-5490

Bible Study – Connect with other believers in fellowship. Grow in your understanding of the Bible and learn how to facilitate small group discussions. Contact: Mary Cross, 724-8317

Confirmation Preparation for Adults – Help teach those preparing for the Sacrament of Confirmation. Training is provided. Bring your faith and your life experience. Contact: 722-5490

Confirmation Preparation for High School – Be part of a team teaching those preparing for the Sacrament of Confirmation. Help is needed with classes, retreats and fundraisers. Training is provided. Contact: Danielle Pezzini, 722-5490

Landings – Join a team to welcome returning Catholics to active participation in the church. Contact: Don Jozovich, 722-1492

Library – The Holy Eucharist Library provides reading materials, audio and video tapes, and other materials for spiritual enrichment. Volunteer to help us catalog our holdings and check on borrowings. Contact: parish office, 722-5490

Prayer Groups and Retreats – Lead or join a team to co-lead prayer groups and retreats. Contact: 722-5490

RCIA (Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults) – Sponsor candidates that are new coming to the Catholic Church or those wishing to renew their faith. Meet each week with the RCIA group and accompany your candidate on their journey of faith. Contact: 722-5490

Religious Education – Teach children in grades 1-6 or assist in the classroom every Thursday from 3:30-5:00 pm. Training is provided. Contact: 722-5490

VBS (Vacation Bible School) – Each summer children (Pre K to rising 5th graders) spend a week understanding who Jesus is and how they can know him. Help from all age groups is needed with music, crafts, and drama. Contact: 722-5490

Liturgical Ministries

Altar Servers – Young parishioners assist the priest during the mass. Contact: Mary McConnell, marysings415@sbcglobal.net

Children’s Liturgy of the Word – Each Sunday during the 10:00 am Mass, a catechist meets with children ages 4-12. Near the beginning of the liturgy the children and catechist will be dismissed by the Priest. The catechist will take them to the class rooms for a special session related to the Sunday Scriptures. Eucharistic Ministers – Parishioners that have received the Sacrament of Confirmation assist the priest during the mass. Training is provided. Contact: Mike DeNike, Lynn Eaton, 722-5490

Eucharistic Ministry to the Sick – Bring Communion to the sick or homebound. Contact: Maureen Roach 724-6933, Pat Probert 724-7382, or parish office 722-5490

Greeters – Greet parishioners attending masses and coordinate collection of donations. Contact: Bob & Linda Erbe, blerbe@yahoo.com, 724-5960

Lectors – Proclaim the first and second readings during liturgies. Training is provided. Contact: Kathy Wilcox, 728-2608, blonday59@sbcglobal.net

Liturgical Environment Committee – Plan church decorations for major feasts. Contact: Fr. Derek Hughes, 722-5490

Musicians – Lead congregational singing at masses vocally or instrumentally. Practice at convenient times during the week. Contact: Betsy Walsh, elizawalsh@aol.com

Organizations & Movements

Cursillo – Team members support participants during a weekend program for sharing faith and deepening community. Contact: Don Lipoma 761-3056 or Don Jozovich 722-1492

Engaged Encounter – Team members present a weekend experience for couples planning marriage. It provides the engaged couples with an opportunity to discuss their future lives together: strengths, weaknesses, desires, ambitions, church and society. The weekend is Catholic in orientation and is presented by two Catholic couples and a priest. Contact: parish office, 722-5490

Marriage Encounter – Team members present a weekend experience for married couples that want to enrich their relationships. Contact: parish office, 722-5490

Retrouvaille – Team members present the weekend phase of this program, which is intended for married couples that need to heal and renew their relationships. This program has been highly successful in saving marriages, as well as bringing reconciliation to couples that have already separated or divorced. Pastoral Ministries

Facilities Committee – Advise the pastor on facilities matters. Members are appointed by the pastor. Contact: Fr. Derek Hughes, 722-5490

Finance Committee – Advise the pastor and staff on financial matters. Members are appointed by the pastor. Contact: Fr. Derek Hughes, 722-5490

Pastoral Council – Advise the pastor on a wide range of parish issues and activities. Members meet monthly from September through May. A majority of the council members are representatives of the weekend Mass communities. Some members are appointed by the pastor. Contact: Fr. Derek Hughes, 722-5490

Stewardship Committee – Educate and encourage parishioners to give thanks for all of God’s gifts through the generous offering of time, talent and treasure. Contact: Carrie Salady, 724-2211

Service and Social Ministries

Feed the Hungry – Our parish prepares and serves food to the hungry and homeless every Monday night at the Salvation Army in Watsonville. Contact: Barry Jennings, 688-6479

Flower Arrangers – Arrange flowers in the church for the liturgies. Contact: parish office, 722-5490

Gardening – Join the gardening team to keep parish grounds looking great. Contact: Dianne DeLisle, 475-4087

Hospitality – Coordinate monthly pot lucks after Saturday evening mass. Serve coffee and donuts after Sunday morning masses. Contacts: Saturday 5pm – Bob & Linda Erbe 724-5960; Sunday 8am - Tony & Vickie Cadiente 442-9027; Sunday 10am - Mary Cross 724-8317

Martha’s Ministry – Provide short term assistance to parishioners in times of need. Assistance may include support during bereavement after funeral services, meals, driving or child care. Contact: Gloria Suarez or Marilyn McConnell, 722-5490
